London has one of that biggest and in my opinion best collections of street art to be found on earth. During a recent visit to Shoreditch i could not resist taking a gander for myself. To my delight I was not disappointed.
With every corner I turned, I noticed something new, whether it was small tag, paste ups or a massive mural stretching its way up a multi story building, so many colours and textures to entice you to explore further. Personally my favourite corners were those that lead onto the all too famous Brick Lane. It was a pleasure to see so many like minded artists coming together and finding their perfect space on this beautiful canvas.
Shoreditch seemed an exciting place to be a few years ago, with new ideas and a sense of freedom from Central London. Independent shops dotted everywhere, late night parties escapes and so much more. Some people think it is not the same place as it once was, it’s buzz has worn off, but the postcode of E1 will be firmly marked in the street art history books for all to enjoy for many years to come.
If street art and graffiti is your thing and your in London, I think you would be crazy to miss these fantastic opportunities to see so many recognisably unique styles and original pieces from some of the worlds most famous artist, such like Stik, Shepard Fairey, Ben Eine, Invader, Ozmo, ROA, to name but a few. These guys come from as far as New York, Brazil and Japan, just to shake those cans and show London what they are made of.
Take a look for yourself and i really do hope you enjoy my take on this exceptional area of London!
